The Rotary Club of Dudley was formed in 1922 making it one of the oldest clubs in Great Britain and Ireland.

Dudley Rotary working with the Rotary Club of Mumbai West Coast and with some funds from The Rotary Foundation established an eye clinic in Boisar (shown above), north of Mumbai to providefree cataract operations for those who cannot afford it.

Ray Glazzard died on 29 May. He became a member of the club in 1972 and President in 1978. He was the longest serving President. Ray was made a Paul Harris Fellow in 1994, the first in the cub’s history, for his great contribution to the club’s activities, in particular in promoting and successfully completing the Ashraya project at Bargarh, Orissa, India. It was also on Ray’s initiative, following an encounter on holiday in France, that in 1976 the club twinned with the Rotary Club Brest Côte des Légendes in Brittany. A sapphire was added to his Paul Harris Fellowship in 2011
